Hi, I am wondering if you can help. I was having a chat with friends regarding dermal fillers, Botox etc as I am considering having both done for forehead lines and nose to month lines. However they were against it saying that once it wore off the face would just drop and the lines would be worse! However I am thinking having it earlier rather than later would help as it would stop the wrinkles constantly contracting as the face wouldn’t move the same so they’d actually be less noticeable once it wore off compared to a woman the same age who had never had treatment am I right? Thanks

There is no evidence that things will be worse when Botox or fillers wear off. Equally, there is not a lot of evidence that they have a long term benefit, although I suspect that they do. There is some evidence that hyaluronic acid (HA) fillers such as Restylane or Emervel improve the texture and hydration of the overlying skin. Also HA fillers have been shown to stimulate the body’s natural collagen production.

Certainly having them earlier rather than later means that you wold probably need smaller amounts and the results are likely to be more subtle and natural.
