Having the Treatment - Dermal Fillers
Before having the treatment, you need to visit a practitioner who will guide you in selecting the best dermal filler for your skin and give a rough cost estimation. One important action that the practitioner will carry out during the appointment is testing the skin to find out if it is likely to have an allergic reaction with the selected dermal filler. It is worth to note that most dermal fillers are fine to use without necessarily undergoing this test. The only exception where this test is recommended is in products that contain bovine collagen. Consent is also signed before undergoing the treatment to ensure the patient understands possible effects. The initial treatment can often occur during the first visit when the filler recommended fits the skin requirement based on the doctor’s test. Otherwise a second procedure is undertaken in order to identify the most appropriate treatment.
Treatments involving wrinkles and lines often require unaesthetic cream, applied around twenty minutes prior to having the treatment. The function of the cream is to help numb the area to be treated in order to reduce the pain encountered when the injection is performed. Depending on the type of filler and the area undergoing treatment; different techniques of injection will be used. In the treatment of filling out wrinkles, there are two injection techniques that can be used namely the linear threading technique and the serial puncture technique. In the linear technique, the full length of the needle is inserted midway into the wrinkle and the material injected while pulling the needle backwards, slowly. The serial puncture technique involves several injections alongside the wrinkle to lift it. To maintain the effect after treatment, top up treatments can be performed depending on the type of filler used for the treatment. The recovery time will take around 30 minutes in most cases or hours in a few incidences but the overall time taken to heal depends on the type of filler. Most people will have no problem reporting back to work immediately after treatment, implying that under normal circumstances the treatment is really fast. Notably, if all instructions for using particular dermal filler are followed strictly and prior measures are taken to ensure that the right filler is selected for use the process will always be comfortable with the confidence of recovering quickly, almost instantaneously.
