How can I treat the lines above my lip?

October 3rd, 2013
Q.
I have lines above my top lip. How much approx would it cost to have these treated and how long would the effects last? Also I have nasolabial lines. Are dermal fillers the answer & are they painful at all? Around the eye area for fine lines what would the recommended treatment be? Are dermal fillers preferable to having Botox? Going back to the lines above my upper lip, would treatment cause my lip to ‘plump up’, as I do not want this

Hi
It depends on the cause of the lines and whether you feel any volume or definition of the lip is needed. You can use dermal fillers or Botox for these. Naso-labial lines need volume so either we use dermal fillers here or in the cheeks above to ‘raise’ the area and reduce these lines. For fine lines around the eyes we usually suggest Botox for these.
Most dermal fillers now have some local anaesthetic in them and aren’t painful to be placed.
Prices depend on the product to be used, correction required and experience of the clinician, but can start from £150/£200 upwards. I would recommend a consultation to discuss your options
Good luck

I have a lump under my skin after filler treatment

July 23rd, 2013
Q.
Hi, I am hoping you can help me. I had dermal fillers two days ago on deep wrinkles around my mouth. the filler used was teosyal. One side, in which the wrinkle was deeper has responded well to the treatment. The other side, in which the wrinkle was not as deep, has lump under the skin near the mouth. Although this not painful it does cause discomfort when my mouth is open fully. I have contacted my practioner and am awaiting her call, but would appreciate any advice that you could give me, I am presently using an ice pack on the area.
A.
Hi
This is likely to resolve over time naturally, though It depends how much was injected and which teosyal product was used for how long this may take. I’d try to massage the area yourself and speak with your practitioner who will have a better idea how much was used. If it seems like this will take some time to resolve there is a product called Hyalase which can be injected and will break the product down.
Good luck

What is the effect of dermal fillers on Nasolabial folds and Is it safe? Can I have a chemical peel after a dermal filler treatment?

June 1st, 2012
Q.
What is the effect of dermal fillers for nasolabial folds?..im only 34 going 35 this coming june and i hate seeing my face in the morning with the deep lines around my mouth when I wake up in the morning..it mkes me less my confident.

If I undergo the dermal procedure and the effect will just last after 6 months,is it safe?.After the six months effect what will be the outcome? Will the nasolabial lines I had appear again? Is this treatment cancerous just in case i will undergo the treatment? Is it more often when the effect has already gone.?Also can i have a chemical peeling in my face procedure also after dermal fillers procedure? is it safe?

A.
Thank you for you enquiry.

You are absolutely right that dermal filler are the ideal right treamtnet for the lines around your mouth and they normally last 6-8 months depending on the type of filler that is used.

After the six months the filler gradually disappears, slowly dissolving in the area.

The treatment is not cancerous and millions have undergone similar treatment.

A chemical skin peel is also possible before or after dermal filler injections.
