How can I firm up lines and wrinkles?

November 15th, 2013
Q.
Hi Dr Thorne,
I have purchased a product which is meant to firm up lines and wrinkles with ions-but so far I havent seen any improvement.
I am 37 and have lines around my eyes and just above my eyebrows. Should I continue to use this (it cost me £100) or seek Botox treatment or fillers? The lines I have are not very bad but they are getting worse over time so I would like to stop them from getting deeper whilst they are not too bad. What would your advice be?I got in on a popular discount website and I use it but I really can’t see that it is making any difference at all and it is quite time consuming Kind regards,
A.
Hi There Not knowing what the product is and how pronounced the lines are it is difficult to advise you on the possible results. Generally in the areas that concern you Botox is our first choice of treatment and you can get fantastic results with it. I would suggest a consultation to advise you of some results.
Kind regards
Adam

I had fillers and then botox, shouldn’t the procedure be the other way around?

June 12th, 2012
Q.
Hi there, I have recently had teosyal dermal filler between my eyebrows. As I had two lines I I directly between my eyes, I was initially going for Botox but after a consultation with my nurse she recommended filler a tue lines were quite deep. I had this done 3days ago and she is coming back in two weeks to top up, she only put a small amount to see how it takes then will add some more, she also said she would put some Botox there too. I have just read that it should be done the other way round. What should my next step be, just take some Botox and leave the additional top up of filler and just see how it looks??

Thank you very much for your question. You are right that we do normally recommend having Botox injections before fillers.

The reason is that the Botox weakens the line and therefore it becomes less deep. You therefore need less filler following the Botox.

It may be that your practitioner prefers a different method and I am sure that Botox works well.
I think it would be worthwhile discussing this fully with your practitioner and I wish you the best of luck.

What is the effect of dermal fillers on Nasolabial folds and Is it safe? Can I have a chemical peel after a dermal filler treatment?

June 1st, 2012
Q.
What is the effect of dermal fillers for nasolabial folds?..im only 34 going 35 this coming june and i hate seeing my face in the morning with the deep lines around my mouth when I wake up in the morning..it mkes me less my confident.

If I undergo the dermal procedure and the effect will just last after 6 months,is it safe?.After the six months effect what will be the outcome? Will the nasolabial lines I had appear again? Is this treatment cancerous just in case i will undergo the treatment? Is it more often when the effect has already gone.?Also can i have a chemical peeling in my face procedure also after dermal fillers procedure? is it safe?

A.
Thank you for you enquiry.

You are absolutely right that dermal filler are the ideal right treamtnet for the lines around your mouth and they normally last 6-8 months depending on the type of filler that is used.

After the six months the filler gradually disappears, slowly dissolving in the area.

The treatment is not cancerous and millions have undergone similar treatment.

A chemical skin peel is also possible before or after dermal filler injections.
