Varioderm™ - Dermal Fillers
This range is manufactured in Germany by Adoderm GmbH while the UK distribution is done by Medical Aesthetics Group and the launch was in April 2008. Only a few practitioners are currently using it. It consists of highly cross-linked, non-animal hyaluronic acid in four concentrations; and the Non-Animal Hyaluronic Acid (NaHA) gel. Making is by bacterial fermentation-streptococci bacteria. No skin tests are required before treatment and is temporary, licensed as a medical device, bearing the European CE mark of approved and should only be used by trained members of the medical family.
The product range is made of Varioderm™ Fine Line which is suitable for superficial wrinkles and lines, periorbital lines-crow’s feet and perioral lines, Varioderm™ can treat frown lines, nasolabial folds, lip contours, and medium to often deep wrinkles. Varioderm™ Plus is designed cheek augmentation and treating deep wrinkles like nasolabial folds, Varioderm™, Subdermal comes in 27mg/ml of hyaluronic acid, suitable for correcting contours, replacement of volume in chin, nasolabial areas and cheeks.
People with hypersensitivity to hyaluronic acid or auto-immune disease including breast feeding and Pregnancy should not use it. The immediate redness due injections can be contained by using a cooling device or an ice pack after treatment. No make up should be worn for up to 12 hours after treatment. The patient should avoid exposure to the sun or use sun blocks for approximately 10 days treatment. After treatment the effects can last from six to sixteen months, at least according to the manufacturers. Among the expected effects are redness-transient eryrthema, implant site discomfort, swelling and recovery from these effects takes approximately a few days and should there be any persistence , then the patient should see a practitioner. Cost is dependent on the practitioner, the type of product range used, area of treatment and amount required for the treatment. On average, a treatment involving 2 pack of syringes of Varioderm™ Fine Line will cost, £200, £250 for Varioderm™, £275 for Varioderm™ Plus and £300 for Varioderm™ Subdermal.
