I suffer from cold sores can i still have dermal fillers?

August 30th, 2012
Q.
Hey Adrian, I’m 32 and i suffer from cold sores quite often when i feel a little run down or under the weather i usually get them. I have read on the internet that doctors don’t usually recommend dermal fillers to patients who get cold sores but i just wanted to double check with an actual doctor because i really would like some sort of filler in my lips. Thanks Adrian, hope you give me the all clear!
A.
Thank you for your enquiry.

You are right in that we normally recommend that patients are treated for cold sores prior to having dermal filler. If you do have a cold sore at the time you can have treatment but we will give you medication to reduce the risk of the cold sore appearing following the injections.

Please feel free to contact on 01844 214362 should you have any further questions.

I have very sensitive lips that bleed quite frequently, will my lips be suitable for dermal fillers?

August 30th, 2012
Q.
Hiya Adrian, I’ve been wanting dermal fillers for a long time, probably since they first were available. I’ve always dreamed of having fuller lips. They are very small and thin. They are also very sensitive ans bleed quite frequently. I really want some sort of fillers in my lips but I’m afraid that my lips wont be able to handle it? Are there any times you’ve experienced lips not being suitable for fillers? Or do you think i’d be fine?
A.
Thank you for your enquiry about dermal filer for your lips. It is very unusual for anyone to have problems with dermal fillers for the lips and we would aim to select the most appropriate filler for you.

The dermal fillers vary in thickness and generally for someone with finer lips we would use a very soft dermal filer to give you a very natural and safe appearance.

I have quite a few allergies, what dermal filler is appropriate for myself? Are there tests to check?

August 10th, 2012
Q.
Hi Adrian. I’m really considering some kind of dermal filler, but i have quite a few allergies (Some soaps, deodorants etc) i was wondering before you undertake having dermal fillers, do you have some tests to check if you are allergic to the filler? I wasn’t sure how the tests would be done if so? Would you be able to inform me of any fillers to watch out for that use very natural ingredients for example? Any information would be fantastic – Thanks Adrian!
A.
Hi

Thank you for your enquiry.

We would generally recommend Juvederm as a dermal filler. This s made from natural body substances and is very unlikely to cause any long term problems as it is very inert.

We have certainly not noticed any problems from this following treatment.

Juvederm is available in most clinics and we do wish the best of luck if you decide to go ahead with treatment.

Could dermal filler have caused viral infection?

August 6th, 2012
Q.
I noticed you mentioned that fillers can result in viral infections.
I have had a continual viral infection and I am now on permenant anti viral drugs.
Could the filler have caused this? Should i mention it to my GP? I noticed my filler, although completly gone in my brow for over 3 months has suddenly reapeared and was tender.
It first appeared very swollen like when it was first done and it protuded. After a few days it had setled and does not feel sensitive. At the moment fighting off a viral flu and chest infetion. My Immune system seems low. What should i do?
A.
Hi,  Thank you for your enquiry.

Generally we would recommend that if you do have constant viral illnesses that you cover with anti viral treatments if you do have treatments.

It is very unusual for them to appear so long after the treatment and it may be that this is not related to the dermal fillers.

It might be helpful for you to send a photo of the area at info@aurora-clinics.co.uk and we would be delighted to give you an opinion as to the best way forward for you.

Many thanks for your enquiry.

I am a male looking to have dermal filler treatment. Do many men have this treatment? Any advice?

August 6th, 2012
Q.
I’m just enquiring about myself actually, i was a bit embarrassed to go into a clinic . It’s not the most manly thing to have done is it? I just really wanted to know more about it, because a man’s skin is obviously a bit thicker and i have stubble as well, so i didn’t know if it would have any affect. I particularly wanted some kind of dermal filler on my forehead and around my eyes? What type of filler do you usually use for that? Is it quite rare to have a male patient wanting dermal fillers? Thanks Adrian mate!
A.
Hi

Thank you very much for your enquiry.

Generally with men we recommend botox therapy for around the forehead and eyes as this gives a more natural appearance.

The reason for this is the lines in the frown and crows feet area are caused by muscle contraction and the ideal way of treating them is by relaxing the muscle.

Botulinum Toxin is the ideal way to treat this area naturally as dermal fillers in this area can look slightly unnatural.

If you feel you would like to schedule a consultation most doctors are very understanding and it is a very common procedure performed on men.

Good luck if you decided to go ahead with treatment.

My chin is unbalanced, one side is weaker than the other, could a dermal filler balance this out?

July 27th, 2012
Q.
Hi,
I would like to have your advice,
My chin is assymetric. One side is weaker than the other. And it is enoughly noticeable to bother me.
I think filler could balance it.a
What type of fillers would you recommend? Also I don’t want any permanent fillers.
Thanks for your advice, I can provide
photo if needed?
A.
Thank you for your enquiry.

It certainly is possible to use fillers on your chin or alternatively Botox can be used to follow the muscles if one side is more powerful than the other.

I think this would be a very good opportunity for you and if you would to schedule an appoinmtent to see one of our nurses please contact us on 01844 214362.

I have quite a lot of cellulite on the backs of my legs, can this be cured with dermal fillers?

July 27th, 2012
Q.
Hii Adrian, there is a question i have been thinking about for a while but have only just started thinking seriously about it. The backs of my legs have quite a lot of cellulite on them, i really want this removing in some way! I have tried to exercise and watch what i eat but it doesn’t seem to help very much! Is there some fillers that i could have so they don’t look as wrinkly and strange? I didn’t know if you can use dermal fillers for cellulite or not so any information would be brilliant! Thanks Adrian!
A.
Hi

Thank you for your enquiry.

Unfortunately cellulite is very difficult to remove with exervise or diet. Dermal Fillers are not really an option but there are a number of other treatments such as Endermology but we do carry out this treatment.

I am sorry I can not be of more help.

I keep getting large lumps in my cheeks and lips, i had dermal fillers 7 months ago, could it be down to this?

July 27th, 2012
Q.
Hello, I had filler in my cheeks and lips and botox in my nose area. The botox has now gone, this was over 7 months ago but the filler i had in my cheeks and lips is still there. I keep getting large lumps in my lips and now on the right side of my cheek i can feel lumps do you think they will go? I cant find out what they have used, if it was a permenent filler what is the lengh of time they can last for and will they go in time? Thank you very much
A.
Hi

Thank you for your enquiry.

It is unusual for the lumps to be there after seven months but is certainly possible to dissolve any filler left.

This is normally done with an enzyme called hyaluronidase which usually dissolves the filler.

Most practitioners would be able to perform this treatment and if you feel you would like to consider it please schedule an appointment with one of our specialists nurses by calling our offices on 01844 214362.

One of my patients suffered a vasovagal attack, is there anything i could do to stop this?

July 27th, 2012
Q.
Hi Richard, I attended your botulinum and dermal filler course in January and have been practicing since then and feel confident in the use of botulinum, however I have done my 1st dermal filler treatment today following which my patient suffered a vasovagal attack. I gave a total of 10 units of botulinum 1st and then used Teosyal Deep Lines to fill glabellar lines and a deep scar mid-way across the eyebrow. I used EMLA cream 15 mins prior to treatment. My patient reported no allergies, occasional problems with gall bladder & history of breast cancer. I’d like to know what could have caused the attack and whether it could have been avoided. Many thanks.
A.
Hi

Thank you very much for your enquiry.

Unfortunately Vasovagla attacks can occur following dermal filler treatments or any other type of injections. This is usually nothing to do with the substance injected but is due to the body’s reaction to an injection.

It sounds like you did exactly the right thing with treating the patient supportively and I don’t think there is any reason why they can not have further dermal filler treatments in the future.

Please feel free to contact us again via Cosmetic Courses if you have any further questions regarding this.

I have dark skin but suffered from acne when i was younger, i know have scars on my face and neck, will dermal fillers help?

July 27th, 2012
Q.
Adrian – I’ve got dark skin because my father is Brazilian but when i was 16 i suffered with bad acne, regrettably i couldn’t help but pick them and made it worse, i have scars on my cheeks and some on my neck. I’ve been using bio oil but it hasn’t really helped too much, so i’m thinking dermal fillers is the next step? Do you have any guidance or advice on this? Price? How many treatments? Effectiveness?
A.
Hi

Thank you for your enquiry.

Dermal fillers will not be appropriate for you if you do have acne scars on your face. Normally we would aim to release the scars with a combination of subcision which freezes them internally and possible Dermaroller treamtnet.
